Michael Venus and his Australian doubles partner, John Peers, have won their second ATP 500 title together this year after previously winning the Dubai Tennis Championships in February. Their European Open final came against Croatians Ivan Dodig and Mate Pavic with Venus and Peers prevailing 6-3 6-4 in just over an hour to win the European Open in Hamburg, Germany.
Venus and Peers broke the big Croatian pairings serve 3 times from 8 attempts and saved five of six break points against their serve. The result comes after a successful ATP Masters 1000 tournament run in Rome where Venus and Peers reached the semifinals in their first tournament on clay following the US Open.
Michael Venus will now move up 5 spots to a career high of 8 in the individual doubles rankings while as a team Venus and Peers move up to 3rd in the race to qualify for the prestigious ATP Finals held in London in November.
We’re wishing Mike all the best for the French Open in the beginning of October and hoping he can lift his 2nd Roland Garros Title since his last win in 2017!
